Interactive School Assembly Programs for K-12 Students in NJ, NYC and CT
Getting a room full of students to pay attention is one thing. Getting them to participate is another.
Since 2012, It’s PlayTyme Game Shows has helped schools across NJ, NYC, and CT turn traditional assemblies into interactive experiences where students don’t just sit and watch; they play, respond, compete, collaborate, and connect.
Because a packed auditorium doesn’t mean students are engaged.
Our traveling school assembly programs use the excitement of a live game show to encourage participation while reinforcing educational themes, school initiatives, and age-appropriate messages for various school events.
The game show brings the energy. The participation makes the message stick. Let’s Play!
It’s PlayTyme is rated 5.0 stars across 95 Google reviews from companies, schools, and event planners in New Jersey, New York City, and Connecticut.

Assemblies by state requirement and awareness week
Many schools plan assemblies around a state requirement or an awareness week. These are the dates and rules our New Jersey, New York and Connecticut schools ask about most. An assembly can support this work; it never replaces required instruction or policy.
Awareness weeks this school year
- New Jersey Week of Respect: the week beginning with the first Monday in October, with age-appropriate instruction on preventing harassment, intimidation and bullying. See our anti-bullying assemblies.
- Unity Day: Wednesday, October 21, 2026, during National Bullying Prevention Month.
- Red Ribbon Week: October 23 to 31. See our Red Ribbon Week and drug prevention assemblies and our Red Ribbon Week ideas for schools.
State requirements an assembly can support
- New Jersey: instruction on drugs, alcohol, anabolic steroids and tobacco in every public school from kindergarten through grade 12 (N.J.S.A. 18A:40A-1), and ongoing anti-bullying instruction under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights.
- New York: alcohol, tobacco and other drug instruction in health education under Education Law Section 804, and the Dignity for All Students Act.
- Connecticut: health and safety instruction under C.G.S. 10-16b, drug education every academic year under 10-19, and the school climate law that became mandatory in 2025-26 (what the law requires). See school assemblies in Connecticut.
Programs by grade: elementary, middle school and high school. Seniors: Project Graduation and distracted driving prevention.

Game Show Programs – Adapted for Every Grade Level
K-12 Assemblies. Same Game Show. Different Experience.
Assemblies are often the one part of the school day every student remembers, and a participation-based format changes what they remember it for. Instead of a room of kids watching something happen at the front, you get a room where the quiet student who never raises a hand gets pulled onto a team and has a moment, and where the theme of the day sticks because it was part of a game, not a slide.
For teachers and administrators, that translates into a shared reference point students bring up in class afterward, a genuine energy boost heading into a break or a hard stretch of testing, and an assembly that reinforces school values without anyone feeling talked at.
ELEMENTARY school
Short, Bright, High-Energy
Lots of full-room call-and-response, designed for shorter attention spans without dumbing the show down.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
No Spotlighting
The hardest age to hold. It works because no one gets singled out and the host isn’t trying too hard to be cool.
HIGH SCHOOL
Real, Not Cringe
Prevention themes built into the rounds. Real, not cringe. Built so the message lands without the lecture.
Why Schools Choose It’s PlayTyme?
Lessons That Land. Schedules We Don’t Disrupt.
Built Around Your Theme
The message is part of the game, not a lecture with games bolted on, so students hear it while they compete.
Built for SEL & Character Ed
The games naturally require students to encourage teammates, take turns, and handle a win or loss gracefully, all in front of their peers.
Fits Any Bell Schedule
Two 45-minute shows in one visit, timed to your bell schedule. Need more time? Ask about extending the show.
Designed for Large Student Groups
One grade or the whole student body, split into two shows. We need two hours of setup access, four separate 110-volt power outlets, a projector screen, tables, and a performance area of at least 20 x 15 x 20 feet.
How Our Game Show Program Works
Think of it like four rounds of a game show. Here’s how the day is played.
Setup
Host, sound, and game-show equipment set up during two hours of uninterrupted access before your first class walks in.
Kickoff
Quick rules any grade level follows in under a minute, then straight into play.
Gameplay
Team rounds built around your theme, spirit, or subject. About 36 students per show compete on stage by random draw while the rest of the room plays along.
Final Buzzer
We tie it back to the lesson and break down fast so your schedule stays on track.
Our students are still talking about the assembly weeks later. It’s the first interactive anti-bullying program that actually held their attention.

Common Questions For School Assembly Programs
Q1. What grade levels does this work for?
Programs run from elementary through high school and college, with the format, vocabulary, and pacing adjusted for each age group. A show built for third graders looks and sounds different from one built for a high school student body. We tailor every element to the age group in the room.
Q2. How long does a typical assembly run?
Each show runs a standard 45 minutes, which fits a typical assembly block. Need more time? Ask about extending the show when we talk through your schedule.
Q3. What space and equipment do we need to provide?
A gym, auditorium, cafeteria, or media room with a performance area of at least 20 x 15 x 20 feet, four separate 110-volt power outlets, a projector screen, and tables. We need two hours of uninterrupted access before the first show. We bring the host, game equipment, sound, and music.
Q4. Is this just entertainment, or does it tie into what we’re teaching?
It’s built around your theme. We can center the rounds on topics like kindness, respect, school spirit, or review subjects your teachers pick, and we confirm what we can include on the discovery call. It’s structured play with a message, not a lecture with games bolted on.
Q5. Can you run this for a single class, or does it need to be the whole school?
We don’t book a single daytime assembly. Our whole-school package is two 45-minute shows in one visit, usually split by grade, like K-2 and 3-5. About 36 students per show compete on stage by random draw, and the rest of the room plays along. For one group after school, ask about our 60-minute keypad game show.
Q6. How do we schedule this around the school day, and what does it cost?
Our whole-school package is approximately $2,500 for two 45-minute shows in one visit. The after-school keypad game show is approximately $1,995. It’s priced lower because it’s built for a smaller after-school group, while the daytime package covers your whole student body in two shows. We work around your bell schedule. Send us your date, location, student count, grades, purpose, and budget, and we’ll set up a discovery call before we put a proposal together. No deposit required to book.
